Estes Resort developed by Jim and Ruth Estes
Sometime around 1959, Jim and Ruth Estes purchased property just off of New Lake Road in Spring City which was just fields of grass and weeds at the time. They put their idea into motion when they developed Estes Resort.
Years later, after Jim and Ruth sold the resort to their son Jim and his wife Toni Estes. Jim and Ruth decided to acquire and develop more land in the area. They developed the neighborhood known as Estes Woods Estates, where one of the roads was named for Ruth.
In the late 1970’s, Jim and Ruth decided to move away from Spring City, where they settled in Homosassa, Florida. Their son Jim, Toni and their family had already sold the resort and moved to Wisconsin. Jim became a police officer in Eagle River, Wisconsin.
Today the resort is known as Rhea Harbor.
