Curtis Dean Wilson was born in 1962 at the Rhea County Hospital to George Edward & Ruby Renfro Wilson of Graysville. Around the age of 2 we moved to Port Hueneme, California where my father was stationed at the U.S. Navy Base. We remained there until 1968 when we returned to Dayton. It wasn’t until then that I begin to learn about my town and it’s surrounding communities. I attended Dayton City School, Rhea Central Elementary and Rhea County High School. I was employed by the City of Dayton for 25 years. During this time I held the positions of 911 Dispatcher, Firefighter and Fire Department Captain. In 2008 I began a new career in photography. I spent approx. 7 years working for Jimmy & Shelby of Cunnyngham Studio in Dayton. During this time is when I opened my own business Memory Lane Photos. Cunnyngham Studio closed in 2016 and I was blessed to be able to acquire their 55years of negative inventory for preservation. Another important area of my life is in Local History. In the early 1990’s I developed a fascination for vintage/retro photographs of local landmarks and points of interests. Over the years I have accumulated a large collection into the thousands. I hopes are to publish a few volumes of these old treasures. When I’m not deep in these old photographs or on a photo assignment I’m spending time with my family. My wife and children.
