Abel Town and Hwy 27 Bypass-Then and Now

The area that we all know as south Dayton was once known as Abel Town. Cain Abel along with two of his brothers settled here in 1807. The original Abel family and their descendants owned property from below Richland Creek all the way down to the area of Dayco Drive. The photo above was taken when the land was being surveyed for the construction of the new Hwy 27 Bypass in 1960. The below photo shows the same view today in 2021.
