Graysville, Tennessee was Incorporated in 1917
Graysville Tennessee became an incorporated town in January of 1917. The State of Tennessee passed a law chartering the town. Experts on charters said that it was the most progressive charter in the state at the time. Graysville had been trying to incorporate for several years before succeeding. The first officers were Mayor George W. Poague, City Recorder J.A. Standifer, Treasurer K.F. Johnson. Alderman were W.R. Shelton, J.C. Sullivan, Alvin Clouse, Sam Duncan, R.L .Williams and Dr. Albert C. Broyles.
